While I don't generally like to use media jargon...when it comes to this home it was in fact "tired". It wasn't so much dated as it was suffering from a case of things like window treatments not being done correctly in the first place. The challenge was to infuse new life into a sad decor which was actually hiding the beautiful view overlooking Barrie's Kempenfelt Bay.
The one restriction we were asked to work with was the existing original wallpaper, but fortunately, it was a classic and as such, not only was it in really good condition, it was as stylish today as it was when it was first installed.
We began our makeover by adding decorative millwork. Crown moulding which extended over the existing ceiling height windows was installed and designed in such a way that a drapery valance could be attached directly thereby incorporating the crown as part of our window treatment.
The wall to wall carpet was replaced with new and the clients two love seats, arm chair, and dining room chairs were all reupholstered in our workroom. The soft white and basic black colour scheme adds to the bright and elegant feeling and blends perfectly with the clients classic furnishings. The new draperies frame the large window acting much like picture matting does to ensure the wonderful view isn't upstaged! The layered window fashions were designed and made in our Turnbull Interiors workroom.
